It seems a very nice blade! The hilt (kemuning or cendana)seems beautiful and old...also mendak and sarong are very nice and seem old. The blade is unusual and could be old

This is a dealer's melange, most probably put together in Solo.
The blade is a an old pedang suduk of very ordinary quality that has been heavily reworked into a form that bears not the slightest resemblance to any known Javanese form. The "gonjo" is a very badly made addition. The hilt is a scarce fluted form of a Central Javanese style, sometimes attributed to Solo, sometimes attributed to Jogja, and I don't know exactly where it belongs, but it is scarce. The mendak is difficult to see, but I think it might old and brass. The scabbard looks very much like Solo work. This piece has no place in any serious collection, but I feel that it would go very well on ebay. Please accept my apologies for posting this honest comment. I ran these pics through Photoshop so I could see the detail a little better. |
