Looks like two different types of metal welded together .
More like a pamor ; but pamor does fit the incredibly broad term of "damascus" as perceived by the general public . /could be resist etched though .......... |

Alan
Let's not be mysterious here ; any piece is always better judged in its complete context .
How about showing the whole piece ; both sides and hilt/tang ; whichever . Share a little description such as dimensions origin , etc. Right now I'm leaning toward resist etched from what I can see . You're welcome . |

Ok
I bought it recently on ebay auction. The seller claimed it was found at a farm sale in Pennsylvania. It is 11 inches total and the blade is 5 inches long and about 1inch wide at the widest point. It looks like it had a longer tang welded to the "damascus" looking part Weld? Thanks again for the help |

WoW !
Really long tang !
Perhaps what you have is a forged cable blade with a monosteel tang extension welded on . The scabbard looks like it was an add on and not original to the blade . looks like a fun project piece . |

Thanks Rick
I think it will be fun. The scabbard fits the blade perfectly except for the tang. I wonder if they just got lucky or if maybe they made the knife blade to fit the scabbard. Prolly just lucky,I am just glad it came with one thanks again for your expertise |
