Default Protecting Wood in Low Humidity

I have a bullova axe with a wood (I believe rattan) handle that I am concerned about due to the low humidity where I live. The humidity is usually below 10% plus we have an AC on in my house due to the hot weather. I was wondering what if anything I should do to protect the wood from drying out and cracking. Thanks for any tips you have.
