Help with info on a couple of weapons (WWII?)
Recently came into possession of a couple of hand-me-down weapons, not sure what they are or if they're worth keeping. Apparently they were collected by an American soldier in the Philippine Islands during World War II.
Any ideas? |

Philippine & Indian
Hi Harry,
The first knife is indeed from the Philippines and is called a gunong (AKA puņal, puņal de kris, belt kris [but it's not a kris]). It looks like a good one. Based on what I learned in this forum, the second knife appears to be from the Kerala area of India. I think the blade shape is more unusual in that the typical blade on these knives is recurved. Very nice indeed but could use some TLC. Sincerely, RobT |
