Default Tunisian dagger ? European style ...

Good day dear members,

I wanted to show you this old dagger and try to fix the origin,

It looks to me old north african work for blade and scabbard
But the hilt looks more european.

Some kind of genoui dagger ? Maybe tunisian ??

Looks like a Sudanese knife, people the Fur and Nuba.

Take a photo of the butt of the handle.

Best regards,
Yuri

Default Verification Requested

Hi All,

I read somewhere that these knives come from Eritrea and would really like verification of origin plus any other information (dagger name, ethnic group, history, etc) anyone might have. I have three in my collection. Two have straight blades and one has a curved blade. The hilts on mine are composed of stacked horn or bone washers with brass disks between them on the ends and long bone or horn center sections. All three have wood lined brass hilts. As is shown on the current post the last horn section on each end forms a baselard-like cross guard and pommel.

Sincerely,
RobT
