Dagger Origin
Greetings,
Any idea where this curved beset/Khanjar style dagger would have originated from? Described as Transcaucasian. Georgian, Uzbek or Persian? Thanks, Last edited by DavidFriedman; 19th July 2023 at 03:23 AM. |

I'd go with trans-Caucasian, given the choice.

Trabzon?
Hi DavidFriedman,
Given the fullering, I suspect that it is from the Trabzon region of Turkey. Sincerely, RobT |

I'd also consider Syria side of the pond for options...

Hi David Friedman, It reminds me of my dagger that I got in Turkey and it says: Remembrance of Konya (in central Anatolia) (http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=18730)

Thanks everyone, Trabzon, Konya, Syria, Transcaucasus. I’ll research examples more from these regions.
I’m guessing it may be late 19th century, very early 20th. Any thoughts? |
