Items with a very similar handle are sold as a ceremonial sword of the National Police and the Army of Indonesia from 1970.

That's definitely much more interesting than the one that jumped to my mind... This must be the real life inspiration for the pommel and backstrap on these ones!

Since no one has mentioned it yet, the bird is an Indonesian

Garuda Bird / Java Eagle

It has religious and symbolic meaning, the bird itself is a protected endangered species.
