Default Kampilan size comparison

Here is a visual comparison of two Kampilan, the top one the Pershing Kampilan, the bottom a warriors type of typical size.

I've provided this image to help readers better understand the shear heft of the Pershing Kampilan.

The bottom one is 100cms long out of its scabbard and also has jingle bells for the festive season :-)

Not pictured is my curved Kampilan and scabbard which is 85cms long, it is of even more demure proportions.

Those are 2 very beautiful kampilan ; can you tell me why you refer to one as a "Pershing kampilan?" I get the General "Black Jack, " Pershing connection, but is there a particular type of kampilan so named ?
I also noticed the cloth on one of your swords, as I have seen on others(usually kampilan and sundangs ); was this purely talismanic or was it wrapped around the hand to ensure a better grip ?
Finally, I have been struck by the wide variety of Kampilan tips ; can these be traced to different Philippine groups, tribes, or blade smiths ?
