South Indian could be Deccan 17th century.
Let me add, I find it is a nice katar, and in a very good condition. Is the blad of wootz? I seldom like to judge weapons from pictures only, but I am glad to say, that the quality of the pictures on this forum, lately have impoved quite a bit, to the benefit of all the users of this forum. The pictures of this katar are exelent. The pictures of this katar are very well made/taken - whatever:-). |

Dear Jens
Thank you for your comment. I don't think it could be wootz. best Cerjak |

However, it quite clear that in this stage one cannot say for sure whether it is or not, but I don't see any reason as to why it can't be. The blade certainly comes from a time when wootz was the standard steel used, I believe, so your blade stands a good chance of being wootz. Now, whether wootz or not, I still like it a lot and envy you for it. |
