ALBANIAN LONG GUN
Hello all. Can't believe another week has gone by already.
Here is a typical Albanian "Tanchika" long gun from my collection. Albania was one of the arms producing centers in the Balkans. All iron and brass construction as many were. The iron portions of the stock are all engraved. Lock in perfect working order. This paticular example has somewhat less downward curve than most I've seen. The gun is all complete and in almost perfect "attic" condition. Has an even patina over the entire surface. So this gun will clean up very nice. It looks like it has the spurious "Comminazo" mark on the barrel. But there is a thin layer of old dust over everything. The clean up is on my "to do" list. So I'll re-post after the job. Should make a good before and after. Picture heavy, so hope you enjoy. And thanks for looking. Rick. |

That's a nice looking Rasak! Doesn't look to over-cleaned for me either. And the Rasak is one of only a couple I don't have - yet. Interesting you never see trigger guards on Rasak long guns. I have two more Tanchika long guns that I'll Post later. One is a shorter carbine length - that still had a load in the barrel when I received it!! I extracted the load and saved everything. The other was made for a boy. Not a cut down carbine/pistol. Rick. |

The iron should clean up nice with oil while still maintaining the patina. Rick. |

Hi Bandook.
Thanks for the kind comments. The two round rings on the left side of the muskets are for attaching a shoulder sling. Rick. |

I was suspecting something like that.
But as the Chinese say: when you don't know, you don't know. |
