Project Gutenburg
Project Gutenburg is a source that may be helpful to some of us here looking for older books about the places the swords we study come from.
Here are just a couple of the titles there Through Central Borneo: An Account of Two Years' Travel in the Land of Head-Hunters Between the Years 1913 and 1917 Author: Carl Lumholtz http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext05/8born10.txt Wallace, Alfred Russel, The Malay Archipelago, the land of the orang-utan and the bird of paradise; a narrative of travel, with studies of man and nature — Volume 1 http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext01/1malay10.txt The Man-Eaters of Tsavo and Other East African Adventures Author: J.H. Patterson 1907 http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext03/tsavo10.txt Diary of a Pedestrian in Cashmere and Thibet. Captain Knight 1860 http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext03/dpcat10.txt Record of Buddhistic Kingdoms Fa-Hien (AD 519 ? Translated 1886) http://www.gutenberg.org/files/2124/2124-h/2124-h.htm History of the Philippine Islands Vols 1 and 2 Antonio de Morga ( 1609 ?? Translated and published in English 1904 ) http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext04/7phip10.txt The Bontoc Igorot Albert Ernest Jenks Manila 1905 http://www.gutenberg.org/files/3308/3308-h/3308-h.htm Just a taste there are many more, Unfortunately many ( but not all )of them are text only and the illustrations have not been included. Still interesting stuff. I hope they help someone here |
