Default cabasset helmet , what do people think???

cabasset helmet , any ideas ? looks to be made from one piece of steel , concerned that it does have any of the rosettes and may not be period piece as its in good aged condition but maybe too good, any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated , no back history, just handed from buyer to buyer
cheers
Phil

It looks to be at the better end of munitions quality. What does it weigh? Does it fit a real head?

Looking at the not too exakt way the rim is made I think it is a historism piece.

Yet it looks good to me .
The rosettes holes look genuine.
Besides info on its weight, can you show us more pictures ... like its interior and a wider section of the rim ?
And, as asked by David, does it fit your head ? Not that this his is final evidence; it could be for a younger or smaller man ...

.

I think corrado was referring to the 'irregular' rim folding but this, only for itself, would not be an issue ... i guess .
The weight you give is a regular one for these things.
If this were a genuine 'pear stalk' cabasset, would date from around 1600's, and could come from Spain, Italy or Britain.
A genuine example was discussed HERE.

I think that given the size and weight that its a real one. Plain, simple and not at all fancy, just the sort that comes out of the barrel and onto the soldier.

The workmanship, and the appearance of the metal surface on the underside, look right to me as well. Outside appears to have been rather strenuously cleaned sometime in the past, but that applies to a lot of old armor. (at least it hasn't been "enhanced" with decoration applied by someone in the trade, long after the fact)
