Default The classification of this keris?

Dear all,

I've had this keris for quite some years. Pls ignore the hilt; I've changed it back to its original 7-planar hilt (which does not look Solo anyway).

Based on the blade form, anyone would like to share his opinion on the classification/origin? It's a sturdy blade with rather condensed mlumah pamor lines.

Dear BluErf,
First of all, I would pose a question first. Is there any "trace of change" in the "tikel alis" part? Is it an iras type of blade?

Beside the good appearance of your blade, I must say that your Cirebon raksasa hilt is marvellous... The "pelokan" (Mal: 'sampir'?) is Solonese type of "gandhon". But the "gandar" part is quite strange -- solonese form, but wears Maduran pendhok. Anyway, the overall appearance is good-looking.

Thanks Ganjawulung. This blade has a separate ganja, and does not seem to have been modified. General consensus when I showed this to fellow collectors is that it looks like a Javanese keris, but not sure where it came from.

Dear BluErf,
The most 'suspicious' part of your blade, to decide whether it is Javanese or non-javanese lays on the form of 'ricikan' (details) in the "gandhik" (lower-front) part of the keris.

It is better to visually compare with these other straight kerises below -- with nearly similar "dhapur". I am showing you this time, four gandhik views of 2 (two) "jalak ngore" (with details of gandhik lugas or without 'sekar kacang', and with "pejetan", "tikel alis", "greneng"), one "jalak tilamsari" (gandhik lugas or without sekar kacang, pejetan, tikel alis, sraweyan and tingil or form of 'ri pandhan' almost in the end of the keris tail), and one common "tilamsari" (gandhik lugas, pejetan, tikel alis, one tingil in 'ri pandhan' in the end of the tail, but without greneng...)

Keris with such triangular "ada-ada" in the middle of the blade, usually has dhapur name of "jalak" in Java. (Actually, "jalak" is a kind of bird with medium beak and with triangular surface in their beak). Sorry, I am not able to explain it clearly in English...

IMHO, your blade is more "sumatran" in appearance, or other part of Nusantara or even Malay region...

Hello BluErf,
I also would guess that this blade is Palembang origin. I have a very similar blade but with iras blade. Look the pictures.
Best regards,
sajen
