A Nice Taureg Lance "Allagh"
Here is a nice example of a classical Taureg allagh or long lance. This one measures 84in. overall. At some point in its life, it has been cut in two pieces and reformed with a copper tube covered in leather. This is not too distractive as many of these all steel/iron lances had leather bound hafts, sometimes even leather tassels.
This one is finely decorated with dozens of brass inserts(you can see a few missing) and copper and brass decorations in typical Taureg styles. Note the stylish handguard, and the well-formed, elegant head. You may also see the nearly hidden cut out barbs inches beneath the spear's head. This is one of the more elegant examples I have seen, and I was lucky to find it. I am assuming it is from the first half of the 20th century. Comments and additional info are welcomed! |

Hello Charles,
can't add any info but let me say that it is a very nice lance, also for me the best one of this sort I've seen until now! Congrats. Regards, Detlef |

Beautiful lance. Definitely the nicest of this style that I have ever seen. Congratulations on a great new acquisition to your collection.
