Default african manilla hoop

hi all
I have spotted in an auction what I think is an African manilla brass hoop, not identified as such by the auction house though.
It looks ethnic and has some nice embossing on the circumference
It looks to have age and I am pondering having a bid
I am not posting images or link to the auction as per rules but I am wondering if anyone could point me in the correct direction to research this more
I think from web search it is a lot more than a simple trade brass hoop as it is nicely if just crudely decorated
Any pointers would be appreciated on how to find information on such item
Regards
Ken
