Its in the Pesh-Kabz, Choora, Kard/Karud family. I would call it a Choora but I could be wrong and certainly someone here will know better than I do. they are from Persia, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan areas

Alan

It's called a choora and it comes Northern Pakistan or Afganistan. Yours looks to be an old one probably late 19th century. Here is one that I picked up a few months ago. Nice find congrats!

By the way yours is very fine.

Do you know what the little piece of metal that sticks out of the pommel is?

Alan

I am not sure what it is for but on other swords there is fob that goes there and I think they fasten a piece of silk to it for show?

On a couple of old ones, I've seen tiny bells attached to that piece of metal on the pommel. Nice choora, and welcome.

Steve

Edit: I found the post.

Thanks Ferguson

This same dealer had a very unusual Katar type sword.Very Old it had about a 36 inch blade that was very thin and a hand guard and wrist atachment.

To put it on you reached into the handguard and grab a rod that runs from side to side then you hook the back of the gurd across your wrist about 6 inches back across your forearm. The blade then extends from above your knuckles atop of the back of your hand. it is very old. Have you folks ever seen one of these type blades?

Here is a link to one I found on the web

Thanks Steve

I have looked at them on the internet and Most sites refer to them as "Rare"
Do you believe this to be just a sales ploy are are they really rare.

The guy that has these and other knives and antiques has many things related to british army and middle eastern involvement.

I am going back today to get some pictures of this Pata and to possible secure it.Untill I can make a firm decision on it.

It is indeed an intriguing weapon. I believe I will post a seperate topic on this to try to get some more specific feedback

Thanks for your help
