Hi

I know nothing about this but I love how it looks

The cobwebs in the socket are just perfect, did you rescue this piece from a neglected life?

Well done

Regards
Ken

Its an odd bird...the form, (disregarding the motifs) has a Somali flavour, the motifs look somewhat Toledo Spain to me.

It look rather art nouveau to me. Europea, some kind of ceremonial pole arm. Shame it just the top.

This looks like a Somali spearhead that has been embellished, for some reason.

It looks Qajari ...Persian. 1785 to 1925. Weapons adorned in silver and or gold were often used for Parade.

All the books I have on Persian arms have decorated spears, the designs are floral but are much more formal at the same time. Often contained in borders and sections or if the pattern covers the whole blade. The floral pattern is stiffer displaying less movement. It would be really good to explore these designs. I am thinking that the Islamic art that influenced European Art Nouveau patterns. The European Art Nouveau may well have had an influence on Persian pattern giving the feeling of movement that is so much part of Art Nouveau?
