Default Tulwar swords in Georgia

Last week I was in the Atlanta area and visited the Atlanta Cutlery warehouse. As you may or may not know, Atlanta Cutlery and their subsidiary “Museum Replicas” are both fronts for Windlass Steel out of India. In addition to selling a lot of modern junk they are also selling of a bunch of relics they acquired in Nepal. I went there because were advertising Tulwar swords, presumably associated with the Indian Mutiny of 1857-9. They have a couple crates of Tulwar sword they are selling for at $200 each. I picked out a nice one and wonder if anyone can help with the inscription.

P.S. I also bought a nice British Pattern 1895 Infantry officer’s sword with scabbard. It has the crest of Edward VII incorporated into the guard, but otherwise lacks embellishment. The blade has no engraving and is stamped on both sides with the British broad arrow, and in three rows below that, a crown, the number “49” and the letter “W”. Can anyone help me identify these marks or point me to a forum that would be of some help.

Default Sold out!

I looked into these swords again today. The stock they had three years ago has been sold out.

Once upon a time these things were going for a pittance, not any more. I am glad I got a couple while they were still cheap mementoes of the Empire.
