Contemporary Moro style taming
A recent acquisition, contemporary Moro taming. Hand hewn and carved.
Diameter is 28 inches, coming in at 13 lbs. slightly heavy due to the nature of the hardwood, but not much heavier than my antique 31 inch taming that weighs 11 lbs. The carved design has been copied from antique shields. On the reverse side, the arm holes are larger than the antique examples to fit my forearms. I have a minor qualm, the handhold and the forearm hole are a bit close, it should have been further apart. But it's my fault for not properly measuring the distance at the onset. It is nicely made. One piece of wood except for the rattan covering the rim. Closest you can get to an antique. |
