Default Early morning trumbash

Woke up really early today to snatch me a trumbash from the Land of Oz. Labelled as a machete, went relatively cheap.
Looks identical to Tim's big trumbash which makes me think it might even be the same hand that made it. It's 41cm tall, the handle being 15.5cm, and the seller says the handle has a crack at the top...no surprise, this seems to happen a lot on trumbash. Total package for delivery supposedly weigh 2kg are these really that heavy?

Better pics upon delivery.

I'd be greatful for some comments, especially now that I've joined the ranks of the trumbashi and my envy has subsided

Heavy is a good sign.
They are not rare, but new ones are porobably made of sheet steel instead of forged.

Looking forward to better pictures when it arrives.

It's definitely African, Mangbetu tribe, chieftain regalia or status piece.

Hey Emanuel,
Sounds like the Apocolyptic ramblings of Duvall....in the morning.....
nothing like a good trumbash in the mornin'

You have successfully joined the trumbashis on the Yellow Brick Road, nice!!

These really seem to be getting hard to find. Amazing to see thier ancestry all the way to ancient Egypt.

All the best,
Jim

It certainly looks a good one. I felt compeled to put mine on the scales, which could sound very disturbing and weighed in at 685g. So perhaps the packing has taken it over a level and priced up to 2Kg.

Hi Jim, Tim,

I gathered the 2kg is the total package, but regardless of the packaging material it still felt like the trumbash has some substantial weight.

Jim, they're hard to find because the local trumbafia got them all I can't wait to receive it. I like deep metal chiseling and carving and the trumbash has a good variety of it. Complex, articulated surfaces.

Warm regards,
Emanuel

Nice find Manolo

It looks very similar to one I picked up last year. Mine weighs in at 1.5 -2lbs but I will check when I get home.
