WELCOME TO THE FORUM
I ASSUME BY COLD WEAPONS YOU MEAN THINGS OTHER THAN FIREARMS. WE REFER TO ANY WITH CUTTING OR PERICING WEAPONS AS EDGED WEAPONS THAT WILL INCLUDE JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING EXCEPT CLUBS, SLING STONES AND BOLAS. I SEARCHED THE OLD FORUMS TO SEE IF THERE WAS A POST WITH A LIST OF GOOD ARMS MUSEUMS AND CONTACT INFORMATION BUT DID NOT FIND ANY. IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA FOR A POST AND A GOOD LIST OF MUSEUMS WITH GOOD ARMS COLLECTIONS FOR REFRENCE WOULD BE HANDY FOR US ALL WHEN WE TRAVEL. UNFORTUNATELY I DON'T HAVE FULL INFORMATION ON MUSEUMS HERE BUT WILL LIST A FEW I CAN THINK OF AND PERHAPS YOU CAN LOOK UP FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE NET. I AM SURE OTHER MEMBERS CAN ALSO ADD SOME MORE INFORMATION. 1. EWARD OLKSHOTS MUSUEM , MEDEVEL SWORDS ,USA 2. SMITHSONIAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY, WASHINGTON D.C. USA 3. TOWER OF LONDON MUSEUM, LONDON ENGLAND 4. THE BRITISH NATIONAL MUSEUM, LONDON ENGLAND 5. THE MUSEUM OF THE ARMY " LE INVALIDES", NEAR THE EIFEL TOWER ,PARIS FRANCE. NAPOLEANS TOMB IS RIGHT BEHIND IT. 6. AFRICAN AND OCEANIC MUSEUM, PARIS FRANCE |

It is nice to see another Chinese edged weapons collector.
I like the Arms and Armor section of the Met. in NYC. They do not normally have much Chinese stuff, but they recently had a very nice Tibetan exhibit that was influential enough to send up Tibetan weapons prices worldwide (http://www.metmuseum.org/special/War...armor_more.asp and http://www.metmuseum.org/special/War...yas/images.asp) While we are listing museums, lets put in links to their web pages for all our convenience. Thanks, Josh |
