Default Unusual Ladder Pattern

Normally you'll see Kirk's lines going relatively straight across the width of the blade. The lines on this dagger are NOT "normal", i.e. they break at the center (look closely). Is it something new?

i believe if you look closely.... the groove was placed perpendicular to the barstock... and that there was some distortion when the edges were forged in.... this could easily account for the ladders being moved up abit..
