Default what's important; the object or its pamor?

I used to think that pamor was exclusive for keris or tombak but this is neither;(the bottompart of the pictures) no keris no tombak but still Pamor...
Please gentleman, would you be so kind to tell me tell me what it is (maybe even both of them) and why it's has pamor...

I fotgot
I FORGOT, sorry about that....

The contrast in the later pictures is less due the conditions of the light when I was taking those pictures. For the real contrast, please, take a look at the first pictures.

Smile Hi All

I think we're drifting off topic here as this forum is Keris oriented .

BUT

Along with following this thread's intended purpose I would also like to use it as an informal poll of our participants as to what they would consider 'on topic' for this forum .

Thanks
Rick

The pamor question is easy:- its simply a method of blade construction that provides a practical and economic solution to construction of a durable blade with a sharp edge.
The fact that over time that it became a means of blade ornamentation is something else entirely.

Rick, I cannot give an impartial opinion on what should and should not be admitted for discussion here. My point of view is too much influenced by my experience. That experience tells me that any object of wesi aji is eligible for discussion in a keris environment. However, we have a very diverse membership. The position which may suit a student of the keris who lives in Jawa, may not suit a general collector who lives in New York.

So, my very biased opinion is that any object of wesi aji should be admitted for discussion.

Rick,

Considering the policy of this forum and the transfers of questions and discussion of other weapons than the keris to the Ethnographic Weapons forum in the past, I think this thread is of topic indeed and should be transfered.

If the discussion is about pamor which is so keris related, it is quite understandable this particular topic is on the Keris Warung Kopi forum. If the discussion is concentrating on the pedang showed here, I think the thread should be transfered to the Ethnographic Weapons forum.

IMHO, both are "pedang suduk" (thrusting pedang?). The naga relief, in javanese term we call it "naga tapa" (meditating naga)...
