I'm sure someone here knows what this is. I'm guessing a throwing stick/club? Or, a rug beater?

Looks Aboriginal. Medium dense wood. Looks like it was fire hardened on the ends. Especially the "long" end. And then, the next obvious question, is it live, or is it Memorex? The crudeness, could make it either very tourista, or very primitive.

THE WOOD DOSEN'T LOOK LIKE WHAT IS USED IN AUSTRALIA OR NEW GUINEA. THE ITEM STRIKES ME AS A TOOL OF SOME SORT. MY BEST GUESS WOULD BE A STICK USED WITH A BACKSTRAP LOOM, LOOKS LIKE IT HAS SEEN A LOT OF USE. THE OTHER POSSIBILITYS A POT STIRRER OR A SPATULA. ALL JUST GUESSES ON MY PART

this could be absolute bullshit, but for some reason when I saw that I thought of wooden sticks people sometimes used to use to tenderize fibers before weaving...

like I said, probably bullshit...

Funny you should say that, I thought of the little slide for pushing the yarn down tight on a small hand-frame loom!

Possibly a dual purpose ethnic weavers stick!
