My latest spear.
It is pretty clearly congolese but that's as far as I have come in identifying the old thing. The bladed edges of the spearhead are 32inches long and the spear head itself is quite sturdy and sword like. The central bulb grip is nicely carved and shows alot of use. Sadly it's missing a buttpiece.

A very nice Ngbandi spear. It is complete, the metal piece on the end is the butt.

Tim is quite right. This spear is complete. It's a thrusting spear used to pierce the wicker shield of the opponent. That's why the spearblade is so long.
Judging from the patina on the handle it's an old piece. Good find ! |
