Default Fernando, may he Rest in Peace

It is with sadness that I announce that Fernando passed away on October 15 in hospital following a debilitating illness of several months duration. He led a full and interesting life and the world is surely a poorer place without him. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

I'm incredibly saddened by this news. I, and I suspect many others, will have been pleased to call him Friend. I will miss him more than I can say.
Goodbye my Friend,
As Always,
Norman.

Oh, no!
I hope he is surrounded by all the pets he loved so much.
It was an honor to know him and to be counted as his friend. 😢

I have no words to describe what sadness this brings. Fernando and I always had an unusual relationship, often we were at odds, but I cannot describe the respect I had for him. Our friendship was over two decades, and we learned together and from each other.
I will miss him terribly, our differences aside, we were friends above all.
Goodbye my friend, I will never forget you, and will try, hopefully with the members here, to keep the forum as you always strove to keep.

Onward, always, in your memory.

Very sad news indeed. He was a regular contributor in this forum and had great knowledge especially in Iberian arms and armour. He shared his knowledge and material selflessly and will be greatly missed. So long my friend . REQUIESCAT IN PACE.

Lee, thank you for posting this news. Very sad indeed. Fernando was very committed to EEWRS and devoted a lot of time and energy to the forums as a whole, but especially to the European Armoury for which he was the lead Moderator. His freely shared experience and helpful attitude will be greatly missed.

Fernando's contributions to this site helped make it an enjoyable experience for members and visitors. As a Moderator, he tactfully enforced the policies of the EEWRS site, and at the same time wanted people to understand why the "rules" existed and how this was for the benefit of all who come here.

RIP Fernando. You are greatly missed.

That is very sad news indeed.
I did not know him as well as some of you did, being a relative newcomer to the collector's world, but we emailed a bit from time to time. He was always helpful and friendly. Condolences to all who knew him.

Sadly, just found out he has passed. He was a friend, and had invited me to visit him in Portugal a few times to drink Port wine and see his large collection. We argued about what was suitable to post here, He stopped posts for swords just before WW1, but as Mod, he was in charge.

I'm sad we will all lose his experience and knowledge, as well as his insights.

RIP Fernando, you will be missed here.
