Hi,

Need help. Is this a Tumbuk Lada? Sumatra or Peninsular Malaysia / Patani?
Could it be a an old badik or sewar blade in a Tumbuk Lada Dress?

Hi Oariff,

It's a Malay badik. See the attachment, it's my example. Too sad that the blade is so much eaten, the fittings are superb.

Look special to #38, our senior member Dave Henkel who is very knowledgeable about Malay blades explained it very clearly. The dagger in question is a Malay badik and I guess that the fittings are antique as well.

It's always the name game, when a sewar like dagger coming from Malaysia it's called there as badik!
The blades could be somewhat broader like the blade which started the thread.

Hi Marius,

Just compare the mouth pieces from the scabbards, the one in question, my example and the ones in the given thread. It's the best evidence.
Also blade shape, handle style, blade bolster and the used materials are signs but when there is a scabbard the mouthpiece is the give-away.

Hi Oariff,

Yes, it's a Malay badik. Scabbard crosspiece, the very nice handle in aka bahar, typical Malay. Also the scabbard foot is clearly Malay. Let me know when you get tired of looking at it.
