Another African wand, scepter, spear.
Acquired this morning at a car boot sale. Total length 77cm, blade 28cm. Now there seems to be quite a few African buffs, any ideas as to origin? Now I will enjoy a nice Saturday morning cleaning ritual. Tim

It looks like a sub-saharian work.
Mali, Burkina faso, Niger, Nigeria. But I have no documentation on it. Luc |

That's a wooden hand-grip?

Hello Tom, I should have made it a little more clear. The rust makes it look like wood, that has gone now. It is one piece of metal. Tim

Couldn't it be a spear head with a very long tang ?
If so, I don't think it's from Congo as their spears mostly have sockets. Please show it to us when it's cleaned |

Tim, have a look at one of your earlier threads. In this one I showed some pictures of a spearhead with a square section below the blade. Much smaller than yours, though.

Hello Tim,
Triangular engraving is very simmilar to engraving on spearhead I bought in Abuja, allegedly comming, if I still remember well, from north - eastern Nigeria (?) (third from the left). Regards, Martin |
