Salaams Kubur,
It is always difficult to place a date on Omani Khanjars especially if they have had a hard life like the example shown...What has to be considered is how much of what we see is actually original and with Omani Khanjars it can be a lot or very little as they are essentially made up of several separate and replaceable parts including the hilt, blade and silver plates... I think you have a basic style Khanjar here perhaps put together in the late 20th Century and with what appears to be a wooden hilt. Wooden hilts need not be per se " cheap'' since occasionally they may be of nice sandalwood. See my thread on Omani Khanjars. I would be happy with a date of 1975 to 1985~ in that area. Dear Ibrahiim,
Thank you, you confirm what i was thinking. And what about this one? He looks broken at the top, but from the 19th c. isn't it? Regards, Kubur |

Salaams Kubur...This style is of the monumental scabbard Jambia of Yemen...I would imagine the age to be mid to late 20th Century and as you say some top damage is apparent. The colour of the metal suggests a strong percentage of added non ferrous metals in the mixture where more copper and pot metal may have been added ...

Larger clear pictures, including detail shots, may be in your interest here Kuber, Trying to appraise from a thumb nail size photo leaves room for many errors to be made.
