Section Organization Ideas
Use this thread to throw out ideas specifically about how the display could be arranged/organized, and for related discussion. Don't post here about individual pieces, but rather about the broader themes and structure for the Section.
Before posting here, however, please read my Welcome post up at the top of the forum, including the instructions page linked in it near the bottom. Also read Antonio's welcoming remarks and Mission Statement here. Last edited by Mark; 4th January 2007 at 08:36 PM. Reason: removed link to instructions page, see "Welcome" thread above |

Copied and pasted from my other post to here.
Given the diversity and the limits of our collections, I propose a simple regionalization of weaponry via the 3 major land areas of PI, Northern, Central, and Southern. From there we can try to develop sub-sets as best we can (eg. lumad vs moro, christian vs non christian, western visayas vs eastern visayas, etc...) as we determine the actual pieces to be contributed. However, I would like to (for the purposes of the article) stay as general as possible, dividing only as pieces are available (eg. if all the central region pieces are from Panay, then no need to divide Visayas further). I do not feel we can get a proper idea of how to organize the section more specifically until we get a better idea of what pieces can be contributed. |

1 Speaking of display and cataloguing the specimens, should we have Kris from North, Center and Southern regions all together, right? This way we are contemplating both the Type and Regional modes. Same for Bolo, etc. 2 I feel that the article should cover (in general mode) the entirety in a balance between what is on display and what is not. It is a rare opportunity to have it printed. But this is just a non specialist speaking out of mere intuition of what I would like to be reading as part of the public. Please correct me if I am wrong Oh the pictures, if you are willing to send the old books we will scan and return immediately. Thanks |
