Default Recent carved Ganesha Bali handle

I have just bought this recent carved Ganesha Bali handle from black wood. It comes from a new ebay seller from Bali and the handles he offered are carved by his father, brother and by himself. Good to see that the better carving art on Bali is still alive!
Here the pictures for your enjoy!

Hi Detlef,

Agreed - but it still a lot better than some of the junk that's out there!

Regards,

Dan

Question

Has anyone besides me seen the TV show Final Offer ?

If they have; did they see the $239,000.00 Balinese keris handle portraying Lord Ganesha ?

A masterpiece .

I like this Hindu God very much, so much that I have a tattoo from him on my shoulder, pierced on Bali!

Yes, i'd say this is a nice hilt, but quality wise it should be noted that fine carving in Bali is hardly a lost art and much better carving than this is being done. There is certainly a lot of junk also being produced and this hilt is much finer than much of that. I have also always like Ganesha, opener of doors.
But if we are going to start showing tattoos ( ) this one is based upon the gold horned demon hilt that i use for my profile pic (and unfortunately do not own )

There are still very good carvings to get on Bali! Some years ago I bought this bone carving at the beach from Kuta!

BTW, nice tattoo David!

Detlef, do you happen to know whether he also supply his hilt to local (Balinese) keris smith? I'm curious to know remembering Alan remark on the other thread about how scarce keris Bali is. Thanks.
