Turkish (?) Cartridge Belt
I bought this off Ebay. I've seen alot of cartridge belts, but not like this one. The seller claims it is Turkish. I'm inclined to believe him. The leather is pretty dry. And it's missing a section of the stiched belting. It's hand made and definately not standard military issue. The loops do fit both the 8MM Mauser and .303 British cartridges. It even has two "money pockets". The interesting thing is that about a week after I received it an Antique Dealer in New York - of Middle Eastern origin - sent me an email asking if I wanted to sell it. I declined. He said that if I ever decide to, he would purchase it immediately. Hmmm. Sort of makes me wonder what I have here.
I've never seen another like it. Maybe others on the Forum have? Anyway, thanks for looking. Just thought it was an interesting item. Rick. |
