Default Small bolo/chopper ID, please

A pawn shop purchase with no info. Seem to be Asian Pacific Islander...but from where and when? Thanx for any help with this one.

The scabbard looks Western Indonesian to me, and I would call it a small golok. Looks recent in manufacture. There are others here who can give you a better read and I look forward to hearing what they have to say.

Placing modern pieces can be a tough call since the makers often don't adhere to traditional patterns anymore.

Let's hope we find a close match with provenance sooner or later...

there was a golok posted some time ago with better characteristics in general but with a similar general shape of the blade and hilt

Sorry, the blade shape and also the hilt are completely different!

The piece in question is a golok for sure but to pin down the exact origin will be very difficult. But it's for sure relative recent.
