Default Australian Club?

Just won this one on epray.
listed as "an old african tribal club?"
vendor could not remember where he was told it came from...he bought it in a tribal art shop in the netherlands a few decades ago. 18 inches long.

for some reason it looks to me more like an aussie club with poker work. any comments from our experts in this area appreciated, thanks in advance.

Thumbs up

IT IS ALWAYS DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY THESE ITEMS ACCURATELY AS THE CLUB FORM IS WIDE SPREAD OVER THE WORLDS AS IS POKERWORK A.K.A. WOOD BURNING. THE DESIGNS DO NOT MARK IT AS AFRICAN OR AUSTRALIAN AS IT COULD OCCUR IN MANY PLACES. THE SHAPE OF THE BUTT OF THE CLUB WOULD LEAD ME TO SUSPECT AN AFRICAN ORIGIN BUT THE PICTURE DOESN'T SHOW IT VERY WELL. SO I WILL GUESS AFRICAN BUT IT IS ONLY A GUESS. HAVING IT IN HAND YOU CAN BETTER JUDGE BY THE TYPE OF WOOD AND BY COMPARISON TO OTHER CLUBS FROM OTHER AREAS. A NICE LOOKING CLUB AT ANY RATE
