Two Batak swords
I have slowed down collecting over the last few years, though still enjoying our collection of ethnographic weapons and other artifacts. Have turned my attention to some other areas and Anne and I have been collecting 1950 era Cadillacs.
Recently I came across two Batak swords at a flea market and brought them home. The chain is mounted in an unusual (to me) manner with one hanger below and the other above, however it has been this way a long time and I don't see disturbing it. Would like your opinion. Bone handle |

Hey Bill, i don't know much about these, but it's nice to see you posting here again.
And you know, those Caddies are rather large. If you find yourself need some more room you can always kick some of your Indonesian and Moro stuff down the road to me... |

Good to be back. Thanks for the warm wishes. Had an old email (just updated) and was not getting topic notifications
Hard to get the collector 'bug' pacified. Working on my nostalgia from the 1950s. Fins four feet high from the ground. But there is still an interest in twistcore blades, silver, ivory, and the smell of campfires. Think I'll go oil a barong. And if you have any opinions, ideas on the Halasans, let me know. |
