Default Ivory grip Kukri

Picked up kukri on the last gunshow. Blade is marked "Tempered steel Made in India", so I assume it is post war tourist piece. But is griped with elephant ivory. Also sheath looks much older then kukri itself, but fit perfectly. Anyone has any idea about this one?

A victory kukri made in late 1945,46 or 47 era sold to appeal to Allied soldiers on leave , dealing with the division of India {With much genocide & horror on all sides,} or enjoying R&R or just in Garrison duties after the war.

It roughly copies the style of the mk.3 issue kukri, but is clearly private purchase.

Scabbards original, just leather & probably timber were not cured well...

Probably good steel & probably well made....

That's an interesting touch for the scabbard .

Let's keep it away from those who would crush it .

FedEx?

Seriously though in the UK pre.47 ivory is legal, {Once we left India to its own devices.}

Is it still legal in US? 47 seems a good cut of date to me

Interestingly it seems according to some sources post 47 ivory carries specific radiation that wasn't present before the atomic bombs, incorporated via foodstuffs as well.
