IT APPEARS TO BE A CEREMONIAL LANCE TYPE CLUB , MADE BY THE KARAJA INDIANS FROM TOCANTINS STATE IN THE BRAZILIAN AMAZON. THIS TYPE OF LANCE WAS USED FOR SPECIFIC RITUALS AND CEREMONIES. PROBABLY FAIRLY RECENT MADE BUT A TRUE ETHINOGRAPHIC ITEM MADE BY THE TRIBE NOT BY SOMEONE ELSE. THEY USE NATURAL PIGMENTS MADE FROM THE URUCUM AND JENIPAPO SEEDS. AND THESE ARE TYPICAL PATTERNS FROM THE TRIBE.
THIS EXAMPLE IS 20.5 IN. LONG |
