Beautiful Ottoman Bichaq for sale.
Hi everyone --
Sorry to be having to sell this piece but family stuff requires the funds. It's a beautiful Ottoman bichaq, possibly Greek, I estimate from the early 19th century based on other ones I've seen here and elsewhere. Best niello I've personally ever seen on the scabbard, with brass accents. Minor losses to the brass at the neck, and some small dents in the scabbard. Handle is totally solid on the blade, which shows evidence of an inserted edge when I attempted an etch. Blade has pitting but is clean otherwise. OAL 15", 7.5" blade. Asking $1300, free shipping & paypal within the States, more for shipping elsewhere. |
