Default A kitchen knife, a tool weapon ... or what ?

The offset tang and the bolsters suggest this this an old kitchen knife.
However the thick square cross section of the said tang, the absence of grip rivets and the shape of the blade back, could suggest something else.
Also the size is rather large, though not impossible, for a kitchen knife.
Blade 26 cms. (10,2") total length 40 cms (15,8").
Any suggestions?

It's rusty for sure.

Really due the thickness of the blade my guess is a hunting knife.

I agree with you, Fer. It seems like a knife in the so-called "Mediterranean" style. The button at the end of the tang, before the blade, is a classic feature on this style. It could be spanish. The clip on the point has some resemblance with the old Riojano. It is just a though, expecting to be of some use.

I have a blade from India that looks somewhat similar....
but definitely shorter and more fit for kitchen use

Thanks a lot, Gentlemen, for your input.
Oh, Andrew, i wish it were a seax as you suggest, but i am afraid this one is 'too young' to be so. Also i guess its shape, like the offset tang and blade back, don't look so.
Considering the particulars pointed out by Gonzalo, besides the fact that Spain is just across the border, i would for now elect his suggestion of a Mediterranean style 'cuchillo largo' ('facão' over here).
Nice Indian knife you got there, KuKulzA28.
