				 | A giant Pattani keris sari bulan

21.5inch overall. Blade was source of some controversy - some thought it was from Pattani, others thought it was Terengganu. I'm inclined to go with Pattani because the blade's wave is not that flowing, almost a bit awkward, and the perabots lack the characteristic 'fineness' of Terengganu kerises. I love the figuration on the sampir, which is made from ketengga wood. The pekaka hilt is large and full. I love it too, sitting nicely on the impressive pendoko. |

The blade is old, and everything else is new. |

Since it is a pekaka hilt, technically should be a chirp, or whatever is the word that describes a kingfisher's call. Cackle? Caw? |

A better picture to do justice to the sampir. The patterns on the wood almost looks like a screaming face. |

Bluerf, another beauty you've got there.. the perkaka hilt is mouth-watering, with a fitting 'gelug' pendokok.. the pattani-styled sari bulan is also having the trademark of a master craftsman from Kelantan.. |

Although we might have the similar look alike marble stone, maybe this will help on the definition of blade, though a bit worn out due to age. Overall length is about 21.5 inch Blade length is 14.7 inch. All parts are old but the hilt is recent replacement (existing is in kerdas form - not that old). For your view. Similar tukang perhaps maybe. Last edited by khalifah muda; 1st March 2010 at 06:56 PM. Reason: file not attached |

Ah, this keris is familiar... The hilt is made from gigi? It's unusual for the maker of my hilt to acquire gigi material, I thought. But it is a really nice hilt. |

Ah, I thought so. when you mentioned "similar tukang", I thought you had commissioned the carver whom I knew to carve this. But also noticed that the ivory had a bit of a warm honey patina already, so shouldn't be recent. |

Well, it's not the hilt. But i suspect the sheath is from the same tukang. Quote:

Oh, I think it is not. Your sheath is probably older work. Also, he does not finish his keris sheaths like that , and the buntut is not his style too. |
