Dayak Parang Face Gallery
When collecting Borneo Dayak parang one thing that thrills me are the variations of different faces, or full figures, on the top side of the hilt common among some tribes.
That's why I hoped that we all could share our "faces" so we could together create a huge reference image bank of these variations and enjoy them as pieces of art. For this reason I think it would be great if this thread was pictures only, no comments or questions here either on origin or of appreciation. And only pictures of dayak parang were the top of the hilt is dominated by a face or sitting figure, none of the other hilt variations here please. I hope you all will join and share to make this gallery possible. Here are mine. Michael |

Thatīs an interesting and unusual face. Maybe you can post the rest of the mandau in a separate thread? Michael |

Not so old, as you already knew, but a very nice hilt.
Itīs quite rare with an Y-hilt that also has a face carving, IMHO. Michael |
