Spunjer, great idea!! The colour is more dark than you can see from pics but I'll try some dark shoe polish!!

Rick, yes I think to do also the over wrapping in the next days and something more....

Ok, I think it is finished, but I'd like to know from you what do you think on this: maybe I have gone over the restauration... I have added also an old (more than 100 years old) piece of rope, maybe it is better to remove it? what's your idea? and about the over wrapping? it's better the first version with a more simple wrapping? Sorry for the dark pics and the others with flash on, but here is already night...

Thank you Tim and Rick! So do you think that is not "too much restored"? something like a "fake"..... How much far one can go with the restoration?

IMO it's fine; I'd even darken up the overwrap a bit .
Are you having second thoughts ?
