Hi,
Spiral good point, looking again I think it is almost certain that the strap is not original to the scabbard, different colours and the scabbard was not designed to accept the square metal ring that marries them together having said that the strap is definitely hand cut and hand sewn. There appears to be no obvious suspension point original to the scabbard. Hope this helps.
