Default New Long Knife/Short Sword?

Hello everyone,
I just picked this up real cheep but to me it looks very interesting. The grip is horn completely wrapped in one section of twisted brass wire and one single brass wire. All the rest of the fittings are also brass. The blade has a crude fuller running down both sides that is of varying width. This blade unlike most others that I have is quite flexible. Possibly made from the remains of another old sword? The tip looks as if it has been intentionally cut off. I know that this was common in the Philippines, I believe in the late 19th century. Blade tapers from 5/16" at the hilt to 3/32" at the tip and is still very sharp. Sorry about the poor picture quality but it is quite cold here and the lens kept fogging up. Ideas about the possible age and origins of this item would be greatly appreciated.

Blade length 16 inches
Blade width at hilt 7/8 inch
Blade thickness at hilt 5/16 inch
Hilt 4 inches
