I really like the decorative hammer work on the Congo thing with the kinked tang.

The knives are different. The rest is identical except for the measure?

I have no idea unless we both bought similar knives from the same person. This is my first African weapon and I was doing a search for information and this post was one of the first ones I checked. Imagine my surprise when I saw the top pictures!! The knives are slightly different but everything else including the ruler look the same to me. VERY strange!! This kind of stuff seems to be happening to me a lot lately. Not sure if I should be worried about it or not. What can anyone tell me about the age and origin of this knife?

Hi Robert, Happy New Year The knife you have bought is a Konda short sword from Congo. The blade seems good (rusted, but nice). The handle seems to me a recent replacement. Here is attached a picture of a better piece from Waffen aus Zentral Afrika. The blade could well be first '900, the handle end of 900.
