Default My latest aquisition, help and comments invited.

Last purchase of 2025, sold as a Regency era British sword but not finding much about it. Brass hilt, fish skin covered grip and a straight single edged and fullered blade. Unmarked or stamped though the blade is not in the best state so might have just worn away ! Scabbard is black lacquered brass. Overall a decent piece and feels good in hand.

Interesting sword, something about the subtle details reminds me of German swords.
The grip has been recovered and wired. nice job.

Going by the scabbard, which appears to have a single belt ring, this sword is based around a late 19th- to early 20th-century blade. As Will notes, most likely German.

However, the grip material and backstrap look like something that came off a British sword. To compound this impression, the ball on the pommel doesn't follow the line of the grip properly; it looks misplaced.

If you are looking for a Regency-era sword, and this was sold as one, I'd recommend taking it back.

Apologies for a misdirection, it is a two ring scabbard. I am just looking to find out what it is, rather than needing it to Regency British or Empire.
