Yes, I think you are correct about the country of origin; a Bhutanese "dozum". I can't comment as to the age, though; I believe they are still made to this day.

I am not a specialist but this is a great antique dagger, for sure 19th century, congrats! Are the mounts from silver or iron?

How does one separate Bhutan from Tibet as an originating site in this case, and in general?

Tibetian daggers looks different. For Bhutan daggers look for example here:

These daggers are called "dossum".
