Toy petronel pistols
I’ve previously posted about my miniature petronel toy that I own and I am curious to find out more information on them. Are there any records of these being manufactured? Or who would have sold them in the 16th/17th century ? also during my research I have found that they have been discovered all across the UK, with the one I own being found in England and another one I’m about to purchase being found in Scotland. Plus many have been found in the the Thames river in London. I have also seen that there are a few differences in appearance In the examples I have seen, mostly with the shape of the pommel. A simpler toy petronel was also produced which didn’t have a firing mechanism and as far as I can tell all had a fishtail style stock. Any further information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
