Here are some more instances of repurposing old weapons, found while trawling the internet. (It seems the practice was more widespread than previously thought) :-
a) After the Battle of Trafalgar, French cannons were used in London as street bollards or quayside bollards. b) It's not uncommon in the UK to see fire-tool sets (pan, tongs etc) made from French model 1874 Gras bayonets. Some images are attached. |
