Unless it is a well done and legitmate repair/restoration, I find that sort of thing a violation and insult to the spirit of the piece, the culture, and the piece itself.
 Usually such perpretrators try to scam the collecting community. Obviously, I am not happy with such individuals (explitives kept quitely to self ).
